چکیده

Introduction The present study aimed to investigate the differences in proteomic expression between uncomplicated parapneumonic pleural effusion (UPPE) and complicated (CPPE). Material methods There were 10 patients with UPPE CPPE. These combined due complication of further divided into group A B. An LC-MS analysis was conducted extraction high-abundance proteins, proteins 1.5-fold or higher difference multiples identified as differential proteins. Then, gene ontology (GO) KEGG analyses on groups. Results Compared group, there 38 upregulated 29 downregulated CPPE group. GO revealed that had enhanced expressions monosaccharide biosynthesis, glucose catabolism, fructose-6-phosphate glycolysis, glucose-6-phosphate NADH regeneration well reduced fibrinogen complexes, protein polymerization, coagulation. Moreover, showed amino acid synthesis, HIF-1 signalling pathway, glycolysis/glyco-isogenesis decreased platelet activation complement activation. Conclusions In CPPE, are concerning metabolism, regeneration, pathways together blood coagulation, activation,

Treatment of complicated parapneumonic pleural effusion and pleural parapneumonic empyema

BACKGROUND We performed this observational prospective study to evaluate the results of the application of a diagnostic and therapeutic algorithm for complicated parapneumonic pleural effusion (CPPE) and pleural parapneumonic empyema (PPE). MATERIAL/METHODS From 2001 to 2007, 210 patients with CPPE and PPE were confirmed through thoracocentesis and treated with pleural drainage tubes (PD), fi...

Surgical management of complicated parapneumonic pleural effusion in children

AIMS We analyzed and examined the effect of different management strategies on short term outcomes for pediatric patients with parapneumonic pleural effusions. PATIENTS AND METHODS We retrospectively reviewed 16 cases of children admitted and treated in our department of pediatric surgery for empyema or pleural effusions for a period of 30 months. RESULTS When chest drains are used alone, p...

Thoracoscopy in children with complicated parapneumonic pleural effusion at the fibrinopurulent stage: a multi-institutional study.

OBJECTIVE To determine the efficacy of thoracoscopy in the management of children with complicated parapneumonic pleural effusion at the fibrinopurulent stage. METHODS Retrospective study of 99 children submitted to thoracoscopy for the treatment of complicated parapneumonic pleural effusion at the fibrinopurulent stage between November of 1995 and July of 2005. The mean age was 2.6 years (ra...

Pathogenesis of parapneumonic pleural effusion

Pneumonia is the second most common cause of pleural effusion. The presence of pleural fluid makes the prognosis in patients with pneumonia worse and causes a higher mortality rate. This is why it is very important to undertake suitable treatment as soon as possible. Most parapneumonic pleural effusions resolve with antibiotic alone, but sometimes more invasive treatment is necessary. Therapeut...

Parapneumonic pleural effusion and empyema.

At least 40% of all patients with pneumonia will have an associated pleural effusion, although a minority will require an intervention for a complicated parapneumonic effusion or empyema. All patients require medical management with antibiotics. Empyema and large or loculated effusions need to be formally drained, as well as parapneumonic effusions with a pH <7.20, glucose <3.4 mmol/l (60 mg/dl...
